Palmeiras won the Arnhem Cup, a competition held in the Netherlands. The team defeated Willem II-HOL 3-1, on Sunday (07), and took the title of the competition. The title comes with 100% efficiency, with the Verdão winning all five games they played against European teams. After defeating Cercle Brugge-BEL, Excelsior Rotterdam-HOL and Vitesse-HOL in the group stage, the team also beat Lyngby-DIN in the semifinal. There were 19 goals scored and only one conceded – the top scorers of the competition were Luis Fhelipe and Miguel Messias, with four goals each, while Gabriel Leite was elected the best player of the tournament. The Verdão went to the Netherlands with the best of their squad, led by coach Lucas Macorin. Of the 20 registered players, the only one born in 2012 is the defender Murilo Mattos. Now the same group will continue in the Netherlands to compete in the Marveld Tournament, between June 12 and 14, in the city of Groenlo. Parallel to the tournament held in Europe, the Palestra competes in the Paulista Sub-15 Championship. After beating ECUS 6-0, on Saturday (06), the Verdão will return to the field for the State Championship on the next Saturday (13), against Guarulhos, at the Cicero Miranda Stadium.
