Palmeiras has confirmed that left-back Jefté will be sidelined until the end of the season after undergoing surgery. The player suffered a right knee sprain during the match against Chapecoense on October 31. Following examinations, he was diagnosed with a meniscus injury and underwent surgical procedure. The surgery, which involved meniscus suturing, aims to preserve the tissue's function and protect the joint in the long term. The club believes that, at best, Jefté will only be fit to play again by the end of the year. Jefté complained of knee pain while at the hospital, where he was attending the birth of his child. The player was signed by Palmeiras last August for 6 million euros, with the expectation of being the immediate substitute for Piquerez, who also underwent surgery recently. With Jefté's absence, Arthur, a young player from the Academy, has taken over the starting position.
