Palmeiras has inaugurated a new reading space named after Abel Ferreira at the Academy of Football 2, in an event held last Thursday, while occupying 2nd place in Serie A, with 76 points, 23 wins, 7 draws and 8 losses in 38 games.

What happened?

The Portuguese coach was present at the base training center, accompanied by other important figures of Palmeiras, such as João Paulo Sampaio, Vítor Castanheira, Paulo Buosi and Marcelo Dedeschi.

Why is it important for Palmeiras?

The inauguration of the reading space is part of a new directive at the base training center, which aims to replace phone use with cognitive reinforcement activities and social interaction among young players, and is another example of the club's emphasis on education, which also partners with a private school in the region to provide access to studies for athletes.

What comes next?

With the restriction on cell phone use in the Academy 2 facilities during training periods, players and staff will have to find other ways to occupy their time, such as reading, and Palmeiras hopes this will contribute to the formation of young people better prepared for life, regardless of whether they pursue a career in football, and is just 3 points behind leader Flamengo, with the next game against Internacional on August 9.
